History of our lab.

Bubble chamber age.

High Energy Physics laboratory was founded in 1968. First decade was devoted to the bubble chamber experiments. In 1978, the automatic bubble chamber photograph analyzer was installed, that was a major milestone to set up basis of research activities. Our laboratory was a "path-finder" for woman physicists' participation into High Energy Physics.


TRISTAN age.

In 1980's, our laboratory participated in the TRISTAN experiment that was the highest energy electron-positron colliding beam machine in the world. We joined TOPAZ collaboration and built the most forward calorimeter. After upgrade of the detector, BGO crystal scintillators were used to obtain good energy resolution. That brought high precision luminosity measurement and it was essential contribution to find the QED running coupling. Physics analyses of two photon collision were our main topics. Resolved Photon process, that is quark and gluon content in quasi-real-photon, was revealed to contribute significantly. Till the end of the experiment, we had been actively propelled the project.


And now, B-factory.

From 1994, we have been tackling with B-factory experiment to measure CP violation in B meson decay. During construction, we carried out test beam experiment of CsI calorimeter, radiation hardness test of CsI crystals, designing and testing signal shaping electronics and building up monitoring system of temperature, humidity and power supply voltages. After beam collision experiment started, we have been doing physics analyses of B meson decays and Tau lepton decays. Nowadays, we are also performing research and development of new scintillators and avalanche photodiodes for calorimeter upgrade.
